The Brentwood Public Works Committee on June 9 voted unanimously to forward a recommendation to the Board of Aldermen to select H. Design Group to provide professional design services for renovations and improvements at 288 Hanley Industrial Court.
Staff reported receiving eleven RFQ submittals on May 14 and interviewed the top three firms—H. Design Group, Archimages and Chiodini—before recommending H. Design Group on the basis of more recent and relevant public-works facility experience, stronger references and a more detailed planning and public-engagement approach, including multi-day design charrettes.
Alderman Michael Meyer moved the recommendation and Alderwoman Nancy Parker Tice seconded it. The committee took a unanimous vote in favor and the selection will be forwarded to the full Board of Aldermen for approval.
Why it matters: the selection starts the design phase for improvements to the city’s public works and parks maintenance facility at 288 Hanley Industrial Court; staff said the recommended firm demonstrated specialization in public works facility planning and clearer community engagement methods.
Next steps: staff will forward the recommendation and contract terms to the Board of Aldermen for final approval.
