The budget document presented to the Commission breaks down estimated revenues and appropriations across funds. The General Fund projected estimated revenues of $111,471,644; major revenue sources listed include county sales tax (about $68.95 million) and ad valorem taxes (about $29.7 million). Major appropriation categories in the budget include public safety (roughly $55.0 million) and general government (about $28.5 million). The Commission also approved the FY2026 Construction Programs Fund budget and other related budget actions adopted at the meeting.
Finance Director Wanda C. Jackson provided the supporting materials and a separate GASB 54 fund‑balance resolution was adopted to formalize certain reserve commitments in compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board reporting.
Other routine budget actions approved alongside the operating budget included miscellaneous appropriations to agencies and education, several travel and training requests from county departments, and a budget change request in the County Commission appropriations. Many consent‑agenda items carried unanimously.
The Commission’s formal vote was recorded in the meeting minutes; the motion to adopt the FY2025–26 Operating Budget was carried with one abstention from Commissioner Isaiah Sankey.
What happens next: Implementation of the FY2025–26 budget begins Oct. 1, 2025, and the county’s finance staff will proceed with executing the appropriations and transfers authorized by the Commission.
