Pittsburgh Council honors Housing Authority director Anthony Cioffi as he moves to private sector

Pittsburgh City Council declared July 21 “Anthony Cioffi Day,” recognizing Anthony Cioffi’s 15 years as senior director of asset management at the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh and announcing his move to TREC Development Group as senior director of property operations. Council members and HACP leaders praised his resident-focused work and his role in programs aimed at preventing displacement.

Councilwoman Warwick, who introduced the proclamation, told the chamber Cioffi "cares so much about the residents" and described him as “responsive” and an effective partner in improving apartment management. Casa Benio, identified in the record as executive director of the housing authority, said he had worked with Cioffi for 15 years and that “he makes things happen” and understands federal housing rules.

The proclamation credited Cioffi with strengthening property operations, resident services and partnerships with neighborhood organizations and public agencies, and cited his support of the Fresh Start program in Glen Hazel as an initiative that "prevented the displacement of dozens of families." The document also noted work to build a relationship between Caligiuri Plaza residents and hilltop community organizations.

Cioffi responded that his work at HACP had been "an honor of a lifetime," thanked colleagues including Director Binion and the executive team, and said he looked forward to continuing partnerships in his new role.

The recognition was ceremonial: council members presented remarks and photos, and no formal vote or policy action was attached to the proclamation.
