Parks committee approves minutes, hears routine maintenance update

The Parks and Community Services Committee opened its March 19 meeting with a vote to approve the minutes, then heard a packed operations report from parks staff.
"I'll make a motion to accept the [minutes]," said Trevor (staff member), and the motion passed by voice vote. Chair (speaker 1) then turned the meeting over to staff for the monthly state-of-parks report.
Trevor summarized early-season work: "At the main park ... with our portable pressure washer, got a bunch of the algae off of the playground equipments," and staff reported finishing a small retaining wall at Coral Creek Park and planting native species and wildflowers with volunteers. Committee members noted fertilizer application, with one speaker reporting the crew spread about 1,600 pounds this spring.
Maintenance updates also covered recreational upgrades. Trevor said crews "installed, 6 posts, concrete posts that are gonna be there for the new pickleball nets," and that excavation and follow-up work will begin when weather permits. Staff said the wastewater team assisted with basin cleaning and staff used pressure washing to remove algae around a basin.
The committee offered brief praise and logistical notes but no formal actions beyond the minutes approval. The meeting then moved to reserve cleanup and community-event planning.
