Sedan council votes to exceed revenue-neutral rate, adopts Resolution 24-03 and approves 2025 budget

The Sedan City Council voted on Sept. 3 to exceed the revenue-neutral tax rate and adopt Resolution #24-03, then approved the city's 2025 budget after brief public hearings that drew no comments.
Mayor Bryan Blankinship opened the revenue-neutral rate hearing; with no public comment, Adam Clark moved to exceed the rate and adopt Resolution #24-03. Janice Fine seconded the motion, and the council approved it by roll call. The minutes record that all present council members voted in favor and that Kathy Miller did not vote because she was absent.
Immediately afterward the council held the public budget hearing for the 2025 budget. Sharon Payne moved to approve the 2025 budget and Angela Evans seconded; the motion carried. The council also approved payment of the bills, in the amount of $161,782.80, on a motion by Angela Evans and a second from Sharon Payne.
City officials said no members of the public attended the hearings or requested discussion. The council amended the meeting agenda to reflect the adopted 2025 budget before taking the votes.
The meeting record shows the council completed these financial actions quickly and then moved on to other agenda items; the meeting adjourned at 5:48 p.m.
