The Wilson's Mills Town Council voted unanimously June 15 to approve a Utility Service Agreement with Johnston County that establishes criteria and a process for handling development requests requiring utility infrastructure.
Town Manager Leighanna Worley explained that appendix B to the agreement shows the utility service boundary and that the document provides a framework for the town and county when a developer requests service. She told council the town has begun conversations about potential annexation agreements with neighboring towns and that some areas might ultimately be serviced by another municipality rather than the county.
Councilmember Tim Brown moved to approve the agreement; Councilmember Carolyn Dobbin seconded. Councilmember David McGowan asked whether council should wait to see the county's action; Worley said any county changes would return to council for approval.
The motion carried unanimously.
