Snake River superintendent authorized to apply for $750,000 DEQ grant to repair junior high water system

The Snake River School Board on Dec. 18 authorized Superintendent Mark Kress to apply for a $750,000 grant from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality to repair the well head and aging cast piping at Snake River Junior High.
Kress said he had been working with RCAC/Community and Environmental Services on the application because the junior high's well head and piping are in “desperate need of repair.” He told the board the scope could extend to the Ag Building and Science Center depending on needs and available funds. The board supported submitting the grant application to address urgent infrastructure and safety concerns.
Board members did not vote on a contract award at this meeting; the action was authorization to pursue the grant. The superintendent will return to the board with application status and, if awarded, project scope, budget and timeline.
