The Hines Common Council on March 10 accepted HECO Task Order No. 1 to begin engineering and infrastructure work for Parks Project Phase II.
City Administrator Roxane Worley told the Council the task order includes the Phase II playground improvements, paving and curb work, ADA-compliant sidewalk along the park's north side, a splash pad and fencing along the highway side of the skate park. Worley said the design team is revising plans based on input from a kids committee and that staff continue to pursue grants for additional equipment.
Councilor Roger Hodge moved to accept HECO Task Order No. 1; Councilor Dean Brizendine seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Worley also reported a vendor quote of approximately $75,000 for an additional tri shadow runner (equipment and surfacing) and said the City is continuing to seek grant funding for that addition. No appropriation for that optional equipment was made at the meeting.
The acceptance authorizes the engineering work necessary for Phase II; construction timing and funding sources beyond engineering were not finalized in the meeting record.
