Soda Springs board hears enrollment gains, new TMS 'HUB' program and a patron’s concerns for Thirkill

Superintendent Scott Muir and building principals updated the Soda Springs JT. School District #150 Board of Trustees on enrollment, attendance and programs during the Jan. 28, 2026 meeting.
Principal Worthington told trustees about upcoming events at Thirkill and presented IRI assessment results. Principal Ledbetter announced a new TMS program called HUB (Homework, Unity & Beyond) and said she is coordinating future events with Community Schools Coordinators. Principal Moulton reported that several FCCLA students qualified for state competition, that enrollment and attendance are up, and that student engagement has increased.
Superintendent Muir presented a slideshow with district data on attendance and special education and noted behavior training sessions scheduled for Jan. 20 and Feb. 13, 2026. During the public-input period, Sally Peterson of 175 W 4th S. addressed the trustees with concerns about Thirkill and requested assistance for staff.
Dr. Tanner Davis, a CMH representative, presented Student of the Month leadership awards to Emmerlie Herron (Thirkill) and Karston Daniels (TMS); an award for Josie Tingey (SSHS) will be delivered by Principal Moulton, who said Josie was at a basketball game.
Board members asked staff to provide more detailed information on a potential supplemental levy at a future meeting and noted that the Facilities Cooperative Fund application is still subject to a legislative decision on bond requirements.
The board adjourned at 9:12 p.m.
