Parker commission schedules August work session to scope a skate park and invite public input

Commissioners agreed July 13 to hold a public work session at 4 p.m. on August 10 to discuss a proposed skate park, potential locations and whether to form a subcommittee to lead planning.
Staff advised the group to form a small subcommittee or hold a work session first to gather community feedback before making location or budget recommendations. Suggested locations included Western Park, Main Street Park, Pop Harvey and, with additional constraints, City Park and Canyon Trails (a retention-basin site staff noted would be challenging because of stormwater flow).
Chair and staff emphasized that no skate-park construction funds are included in this year’s budget and that any development would rely on future budget decisions or outside grants; staff said the project would likely be multi-year in scope if pursued.
The commission asked staff to publicize the work session widely to encourage community members, including youth, to attend and to identify volunteers for any subcommittee. The work session will precede the regular Aug. 10 meeting at Town Hall and is intended for public input and early scoping rather than formal decisions.
