Merrill council reissues code-enforcement citation, approves $1,000 daily penalty

Councilor Johnson moved to reissue a citation for "Maintain Building in violation of code (Expired Permit DC 4.2.800/Accessory Structure 155.006)" in the amount of $1,000; Councilor Baley seconded. Councilors Gatliff and McCollam abstained from the vote; Mayor Guthrie voted in favor. The motion passed 3-0 with two abstentions.
The council then considered DC 1.4.300(B)/MC 130.02 to authorize a continuing violation charge of $1,000 per day. Councilor Johnson again moved and Councilor Baley seconded; Gatliff and McCollam abstained and Mayor Guthrie voted in favor. That motion also passed 3-0 with two abstentions.
