Merrill council approves budget transfer, planning permits and ratifies signage

The Merrill City Council approved Resolution 2024-955, transferring line-item funds to comply with budget law requirements, during its Nov. 13 business meeting. Councilor Johnson moved to approve the resolution and Councilor Gatliff seconded; the motion passed 4-0.
Councilors also approved routine agenda items and permits. Councilor McCollam moved to approve the consent agenda, which included the Oct. 9 meeting minutes, business license renewals and accounts payable items; Councilor Baley seconded and the consent agenda passed 4-0. A phone-poll action to purchase tractor tires from Basin Tire for $1,325 was recorded as Approved 3-0 with one no vote; a separate phone-poll to approve signage for Cheyne Insurance Agency was recorded as Approved 4-0.
The council acted on two planning items. File #13-2024, a Type I-a fence application for Tax Lot #4110-002DD-00300, was approved with conditions limiting fence heights at specified corners to preserve sight lines; Councilor Johnson made the motion, Councilor McCollam seconded and the vote was 4-0. File #14-2024, a Type I-a sign permit for Tax Lot #4110-012BB-01302, was ratified by Councilor Baley with Councilor McCollam seconding and passed 4-0.
The council also adjourned at 6:46 p.m. after a motion by Councilor Johnson and second by Councilor McCollam. A request for a $5,000 Community Foundation grant to support the Lost River Bluegrass Festival was agendized for a future meeting.
