Woolwich approves engineering contracts, park change orders and routine business including crossing-guard appointments

The Woolwich Township Committee on June 16 approved several contracts, change orders and routine personnel actions as part of a consent agenda.
The Committee approved R-2025-161, awarding a professional-services contract to Remington & Vernick for advertisement/bidding support, contract administration and construction observation for improvements to Back Creek Road, Russell Mill Road and Oakview Terrace (not to exceed $40,070). Mark Lodato of Remington & Vernick said the three roads would be included in a single bid package; Russell Mill and Back Creek will be funded by an NJDOT grant while Oakview Terrace will not. Lodato added that weather-related delays would extend the contract timeline without billing penalties.
The Committee also passed R-2025-163 (a $25,770.84 change of scope for additional engineering toward Locke Avenue Park development) and R-2025-166 (a separate change-of-scope and construction-management authorization for Locke Avenue Park Phase I not to exceed $378,840). Mayor Matthias noted that the larger Locke Avenue Park change-of-scope should have been presented earlier in bond documents. The Township approved R-2025-162 to lease a replacement vehicle for the fire chief and adopted resolutions appointing crossing guards (R-2025-154).
The consent agenda included a series of administrative actions: certificate-of-sale cancellations, permits, refund authorizations, a totally disabled veteran deduction and several internal police promotions noted in resolutions R-2025-155 through R-2025-161 and R-2025-168 through R-2025-170.
What happens next: engineering will proceed to advertise bids, change-order work for Locke Avenue Park will move to execution, and appointed crossing guards and vehicle leasing will be implemented by the appropriate departments.
