The Woolwich Township Committee on June 16 adopted the 2025 municipal budget and approved two five-year shared-service agreements for police coverage.
Mayor Matthias read the budget resolutions and, after a public hearing with no speakers, the Committee adopted R-2025-150, the 2025 municipal budget. Matthias thanked the chief financial officer for her work and said there is no increase in the local budget. Deputy Mayor Nocentino noted the Committee's efforts to keep taxes flat under local control. Committeeman Frederick added for the record that the $1,721 figure referenced represents the average assessment impact for homes in Woolwich rather than the total increase.
The Committee also adopted two shared-services contracts authorizing Woolwich to provide police protection to South Harrison Township (R-2025-151) and to the Borough of Swedesboro (R-2025-152). Mayor Matthias said negotiations had extended over roughly a year and a half; Committeeman Frederick raised questions about differences between redlined and final contract language, including whether an evergreen clause had been properly removed, and about a limit in section 6 that restricts special events to ten per year. Both shared-service resolutions passed on recorded roll-call votes of 5–0.
What happens next: The budget is in effect as adopted; the police contracts will be implemented according to their five-year schedules and the township will coordinate any permitted special events under the new contract language.
