Worth County public-works update: crews performing heat-related repairs; new facility, fuel pad and salt-shed progressing

An agency official (Speaker 1) provided a detailed update on public-works activity and facility construction during the Worth County meeting.

Speaker 1 reported crews have been performing blading and patching of heat‑related road damage and finishing residual flood repairs. “We’ve had some blading going on,” the official said, describing spot repairs and staged precut patches that crews will address in the fall when temperatures are more favorable for concrete work.

On facilities, Speaker 1 said the main concrete floor in the new facility’s parking area is complete and crews are working on the mechanic bay, commissioner bay and wash bay. Work to prepare the fuel‑station pad is underway: conduit spacing is being coordinated with fuel suppliers and the county will hire an electrician to wire the pad when ready. Materials for a salt shed have been delivered; the board expects construction of the shed later this fall after grading and equipment staging are complete.

Building-and-grounds work was also reported by Dave Randall (Speaker 3), who described a boiler inspection that showed reduced calcium build-up and recommended cleaning and flushing to restore efficiency. Randall said the boiler’s efficiency was improved and that refill of the water tower would begin the next day to support pressure for nearby machinery.

Members noted the flagpole needs painting and discussed tuck‑pointing and installation of flexible expansion joints where masonry cracks have appeared; those structural repairs will be scheduled next construction season and cost estimates will be prepared.

The updates were informational; no formal action beyond ongoing contracting and scheduling was taken during the meeting.
