Bedford council approves Liberty High homecoming parade street closures for Oct. 8

The Bedford Town Council unanimously approved a request from Liberty High School’s Student Council Association to close College, Peak, Bridge and Main streets for the school’s annual homecoming parade on Wednesday, Oct. 8, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Victoria Coles, who identified herself as the Student Council Association representative, told the council the group plans to use its previously approved downtown route and asked only that the town consider associated costs; she said the students may need help covering fees. “If approved, we'll need to know the cost of this event, and we may not be able to afford the cost, but regardless, we would like to thank you for your time and consideration,” Coles said.
Councilman Evans moved to approve the street closures and Vice Mayor Updike seconded. The council conducted a roll call and all seven members voted aye; the motion carried.
Staff will follow up with the student organizers about event costs and logistics.
