The Sedan City Council voted Feb. 4 to place staff member Caleb Ironsyde in charge of the city crew on an interim basis until the vacant public works superintendent position is filled. Councilmember Janice Fine made the motion and Angela Evans seconded; the motion carried.
At the same meeting, the council scheduled a special meeting for 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 6, 2025, to interview candidates for the superintendent post. Councilmember Adam Clark asked Joyce and Leroy Moreland about outstanding work on the Fair Building; the Morelands said the repairs are "in the works." The council did not set a hiring timeline at the Feb. 4 meeting.
The interim assignment gives day-to-day supervision to Caleb Ironsyde while the council completes interviews. The council’s next procedural step is the Feb. 6 special meeting to hear candidates and consider appointing a permanent superintendent.
The meeting began at 5:30 p.m. and adjourned at 5:51 p.m.
