EDC hears infrastructure updates: crosswalk plans, fiber upgrades and $3M West Cornwall wastewater design funding

S6 also described progress on a broadband upgrade: dedicated high-speed fiber (Senet, connected to the Connecticut Education Network) is being installed at town buildings and the West Cornwall Firehouse, and the library is on track to come online as part of that work.
On housing and brownfields, S6 said two new affordable units as part of the Waterwoods project have been delivered and are in the finishing stages. The town is preparing an RFP for a brownfield assessment at a potential Route 7 housing site using a brownfield grant to evaluate possible contamination and cost implications.
On wastewater, S6 reported the town submitted a notice of binding of no significant impact and a notice of intent to request release of funds tied to the West Cornwall Wastewater Treatment Facility; the funding discussed amounted to roughly $3,000,000 to support the design phase. The town has interviewed firms and expects to issue an RFP focused on membrane bioreactor systems, with two firms shortlisted to submit proposals.
S6 also noted municipal facility needs including quotes being sought for a town-hall roof and insulation, upgrades at the Cornwall Bridge Firehouse, and plans to buy two new fire trucks in coming years.
