EDC approves Chronicle insert and plots music-focused Cornwall Days

The EDC voted to approve a printed promotional insert in the Cornwall Chronicle to advertise Cornwall Days, a three-day weekend of music and small-scale theater aimed at driving local foot traffic.

Committee member (S4) proposed ordering two or three large banners and a one-sided color insert in the Chronicle, saying the paper can handle overage printing and that a $225 insert would give enough material to distribute to local businesses. "It's very reasonable," S4 said of the cost, and urged the group to finalize performer names and times by the Chronicle's Aug. 15 deadline to ensure the listing runs in print.

Members agreed to use multiple promotion channels. S7 recommended leaning on social media outlets such as Explore Cornwall and town Facebook groups to supplement or back up the Chronicle insert; the group also discussed adding a QR code to printed materials that would link to an online event page for last-minute updates.

The discussion covered possible host venues and scheduling: S4 named Formal Bridge, West Bridal, the Pink House and the Wish House as potential hosts and emphasized focusing the program on a few key events to keep the weekend manageable. S7 said organizers plan a jazz set and some vintage-market tie-ins on Aug. 2 to see how music draws crowds.

Chair (S1) called for a motion on the proposed insert cost. A motion was moved and seconded on the floor; the Chair asked if there was any opposition and none was voiced. The motion was approved. Meeting participants did not record individual vote tallies in the transcript.
