New Rockford Commission approves minutes, financials, reports, permits and CD renewals

At its March 3 meeting the New Rockford City Commission approved routine business and several administrative items, including the February minutes, the financial reports, departmental reports, permits, a housing incentive and three CD renewals.
Fleming moved to approve the February 3 and February 18 meeting minutes; Dauenhauer seconded and the minutes were approved unanimously. Committee member Ystaas moved to accept the financial reports and to approve the February bills; Fleming seconded. The roll-call vote on the February bills recorded President Stuart Richter, Fleming, Ystaas, Dauenhauer and Belquist voting 'aye.'
Public Works Superintendent Hirchert presented the department report. Hirchert said that Water Smith told staff they planned to come and pull water lines from Well 1; relief valves were fixed on RO #1; crews have been delivering and replacing broken garbage totes; and the state approved a burn permit for the landfill tree pile. Fleming moved to accept the Public Works report; Dauenhauer seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
City Auditor Andrew Presnell presented the auditor's report, noting the submission of the 2024 Solid Waste report, his attendance at a North Central Planning Council meeting, cameras installed at Brown Memorial and that he attended a conference in Bismarck. Belquist moved to approve the auditor's report; Ystaas seconded and the commission approved it unanimously.
Under New Business, President Richter moved to approve a housing incentive for Brayton Meehan; Ystaas seconded and the incentive was approved. The commission also approved gaming permits for the Eddy County 4-H Club and the New Rockford Park District (moved by Ystaas and seconded by Fleming), and the building permits for Bonnie Spicer (moved by Ystaas and seconded by Fleming). All motions passed unanimously.
The commission discussed three certificates of deposit coming due in March. Dauenhauer moved to renew CD accounts 1028660509, 1028739539 and 1028739458 at Bank Forward into one-year CDs at a rate of 3.85%; Belquist seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:37 a.m. The next regular meeting is April 7, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall.
