State Affairs committee sends three gubernatorial appointments to the Senate floor

The Senate State Affairs Committee on April 11 moved three gubernatorial appointments forward to the full Senate.
Chair Jim Guthrie introduced the nomination of David Dean of Meridian to the Idaho Endowment Fund Investment Board for a term beginning April 11, 2025, and expiring April 11, 2029. Dean described his background in accounting and businesses including recycling and records destruction and said he wanted to "give back." The committee indicated it will vote on Dean's appointment on Monday and move it to the Senate floor.
The committee also considered the appointment of Leighton Laning to the Commission on Human Rights, with term dates recorded as commencing Aug. 29, 2025 and expiring in July 2027. Senator Dan Hartog moved to send Laning's appointment to the floor with a recommendation for confirmation; Senator Harris seconded and the motion carried.
Members then considered the reappointment of Brian Scigliano to the Commission on Human Rights for a term from July 2025 to July 2028. A motion to send the reappointment to the floor with a confirmation recommendation was made and carried.
All three items were handled by voice vote with members recorded as saying "aye"; the committee recorded the motions as carried and referred the nominations to the Senate floor for final action.
