The Belgrade School Board on Oct. 13 discussed an annexation proposal that would add the Bridgeview and Buscoring properties to city jurisdiction but did not approve it after trustees identified clerical errors and asked for information about irrigation wells and potential financial effects.
Staff said annexation would make the properties city property and allow consistent municipal police service and partnership with SROs. A trustee flagged a clerical error in the annexation documents and asked whether abandoned or active irrigation wells on the properties would change district liabilities or loan obligations. The trustee also raised concern about language referring to water delivery and sewer provisions.
In response, staff acknowledged the error, offered to gather additional documentation about irrigation wells and related financial obligations and withdrew the motion; the item was tabled to a future meeting for corrected documents.
No formal vote was taken to approve the annexation; the board paused the item to allow staff to provide corrected paperwork and answers to the outstanding utilities questions.
