Villa Park manager announces new restaurant openings, urges residents to shop amid poor air quality

Village Manager Mike Rivas announced that several new restaurants are opening in Villa Park and urged residents to support local businesses while warning people to limit outdoor activity because of poor air quality.

Rivas said he was speaking from the Villa Oaks shopping center outside Puerto Nuevo, which he said is "set to have a grand opening tomorrow, Friday, July 17." He credited village staff with working "very hard to work with these businesses to get these restaurants open," and encouraged local patronage: "Please shop, spend, and most of all, eat in Villa Park."

Rivas also listed other upcoming and approved projects. He said the village board approved plans for a business called Oasis to open at Ardmore and Park and that a separate union development has "promised to put a restaurant in their commercial section on the 1st floor." He noted Rosie's Cafe is "set to open soon" and briefly mentioned a separate project referred to as "302 Villa Park" without further detail.

Rivas named several existing dining options while describing the growing restaurant lineup, saying the village already has establishments he identified as Simon's, Highview and Crazy Port. He also warned listeners about current air conditions: "The air quality is not good. So please take care of friends and family, on a on a day where you probably should spend inside."
