New Rockford commission approves routine permits, renewals and employee utility benefit

Mayor Stuart Richter presided over the New Rockford City Commission’s June 2, 2025, meeting at City Hall, where commissioners approved a slate of routine business including permits, licenses, and personnel benefits.
The commission voted to approve the meeting agenda and corrections to the April 14 and May 5 meeting minutes. Commissioners also approved the financial reports and a roll-call approval of May bills, with Mayor Richter and Commissioners Belquist, Fleming and Dauenhauer all voting “aye.”
Public Works Superintendent Hirchert’s written report and City Auditor Andrew Presnell’s report — which noted that city license renewal letters were sent and that the 2024 Consumer Confidence Report was completed — were accepted without objection.
Under New Business the commission approved building permits for applicants Leona and Rick Eversvik, Kristi Swenson and Brooke Skjeret; gaming-site authorizations for Raymond B. Thorn Post 30 (American Legion), Wonder Lanes, New Rockford Eagles and Hanson’s Bar; and liquor and beer license renewals for New Rockford Eagles, Buck‑it’s Bar, Wonder Lanes, Hanson’s Bar, Log Cabin Liquors, CenDak Cooperative, DPRCA and the American Legion.
The commission approved plumbing license renewals for Larsen Plumbing and Heating, Schulz Plumbing and Heating, Hometown Plumbing and Rockford Plumbing; Commissioners Belquist, Fleming and Dauenhauer voted “aye” and Mayor Richter abstained. Street-closure requests from the New Rockford Eagles and the New Rockford Chamber and a special event permit for the New Rockford Eagles Club were also approved. Commissioners approved the City Auditor bond.
In a personnel action, the commission approved a motion to provide full‑time city employees with fully covered city utility bills effective June 1, 2025; Commissioner Dauenhauer moved the measure and Commissioner Fleming seconded; the motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 10:17 a.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for July 7, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall.
