Myrtle Creek council approves $169,310 pool repair, $98,327.95 sewer camera and three ordinances

Council President Robert Chaney presided over a Sept. 3 meeting of the Myrtle Creek City Council where members approved multiple capital purchases and three ordinance amendments.
The council approved a $169,310 contract with Parker Custom Pools LLC to complete needed repairs to the municipal pool after the city received a single bid. Councilor Diana Larson moved to approve the contract; Councilor Luke Dillon seconded. Council members asked staff about the original cost estimate for the project and the expected life of the new plaster before the motion passed unanimously.
The council also approved the purchase of a remote fiber-optic sewer inspection camera system from Envirosight for $98,327.95. Public Works staff had determined the Envirosight system best met the city’s needs. Councilor Larson moved to authorize the purchase and Councilor Susan Harris seconded; members asked whether the camera could be used during the TMDL process before voting to approve the purchase unanimously.
On ordinance business the council conducted second readings and approved three amendments: Ordinance 856 (amending MCMC Chapter 2.05, Fire Department), Ordinance 857 (amending MCMC Chapter 2.10, Park Commission) and Ordinance 858 (amending MCMC Chapter 2.20, Elections). Each ordinance was moved and seconded by councilors and passed on second reading without recorded discussion.
The council also adopted Resolution 24-20, a supplemental budget adjusting the General Fund for the 2024–25 fiscal year, to carry forward ARPA funds delayed by project timing. Councilor Luke Dillon moved approval and Councilor Diana Larson seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
