Mosier council appoints Gary Lindemeyer to vacant seat; write-in Lydia Koerner named election winner

The Mosier City Council on Dec. 4 appointed resident Gary Lindemeyer to a vacant council seat after considering his single application for the position.
Lindemeyer introduced himself as a recent retiree to Mosier from Hood River who previously worked for the City of Hood River on construction standards and larger public water and sewer projects and who has worked with Stoner Bell and Bell Design, the city’s contracted engineer. Audience member Teunis Swyers commented on Lindemeyer’s familiarity with that work and encouraged the council to appoint him. Councilor Campbell moved to appoint Lindemeyer; Councilor Wright seconded the motion. The motion passed with "all in favor," and Lindemeyer was seated to fill the vacancy.
Earlier in the meeting, City Manager Andrea Rogers reported the certified write-in results: 15 different names appeared across 54 ballots that included write-ins, and Lydia Koerner received the highest number of votes (24) and was listed as elected; Koerner attended via Zoom and thanked the council.
The appointment fills the council vacancy left open by Spencer’s departure. The council took no further formal action related to the seat during the Dec. 4 meeting.
