Staff said the district stopped funding the AVID program because of turnover and the high cost of training and reallocated those resources to counselors, a family support liaison from the ESD, and career and technical education (CTE) programs.
The high school success funds were described as largely supporting CTE expansion, facility readiness for program growth and credit-recovery efforts to improve graduation and attendance. Staff also said the district pays some college tuition for students taking classes through LCCC as part of advanced course placement efforts.
Board members asked questions and heard that objectives will largely remain intact with small adjustments as needed; staff characterized the fiscal picture as manageable and said the district should be in good shape for upcoming months.
