S1 delivered a construction and building-inspection update to the board, reporting that the shop roof is finished, both buildings received new roofs and facades, and a back concrete project is nearly complete. Kitchen renovations are underway but S1 said the stainless fixtures limit options for achieving a fully open floor, so additional modifications will be necessary.
S1 told the board the district will sign a state seismic grant agreement this week for $2,500,000 to pay for work on the end of the building, but cautioned that the district does not have a large contingency fund should the project exceed estimates and said staff will closely monitor the budget as work proceeds: "I'll have more for you down the road on that one," S1 said.
When asked about the track, S3 and others discussed options; S1 said an initial repair estimate of about $30,000 would cover cleaning, filling and repainting as a short-term fix, while full reconstruction would be substantially more expensive and not currently funded.
S1 emphasized finishing work and cleanup and noted the inspection committee will continue to monitor projects and report back.
What happens next: administration will sign the state seismic grant agreement and continue project oversight; the board and inspection committee will receive further updates as work and budgeting move forward.
