Property owner Cheryl Grove told the commission she needs the extra storage, said she can paint the shed and place it “directly behind the house,” and agreed to materials and siting described in the staff report. “I just really need the extra storage,” Grove said.
Staff presented photographs and supporting documents and recommended the commission enter the staff report into the record and find the change compatible with the district. Commissioners asked whether the structure would affect the façade; staff and the owner said the shed would sit at the back property line and would not alter the primary façade.
After commissioners confirmed that the proposal met historic‑preservation standards and that materials appeared compatible, Miss Rainer moved to approve the COA with Miss Smith seconding. The motion carried by voice vote, and the presiding officer was authorized to sign the final order.
The commission’s action is limited to the exterior appearance under the Appearance Commission’s authority; no separate approvals were recorded in the minutes for zoning or building permits, which applicants must secure if required.
