Jaques listed specific accomplishments: 571 classroom whiteboards installed; stair treads and exterior door replacements to improve security (about 100 door openings district‑wide); HVAC upgrades representing roughly 37% of the presented scope; restroom renovations in 45 spaces across elementary, middle and high schools; six new playgrounds and 10 resurfaced playgrounds; and 84 new benches placed district‑wide. He said three auditoriums (including Vashon and Central) have received initial upgrades.
On project costs Jaques stressed that the consultant slides summarized categories (hazard abatement, HVAC, building infrastructure, safety and security, academic enhancements and outdoor learning) and that the presented pie chart reflected those proportions. He said roofing work has been done at more than 25 schools.
Board members asked whether signage or digital displays could be used to highlight in‑school programs to passersby. Jaques said the CVPA/CSMB canopy and signage additions are being treated as a pilot and the district (chief Watson’s team) will coordinate with signage vendors to determine a long‑term approach.
When asked whether any Prop S funds remain, Jaques said yes — staff are reconciling interest‑earned balances with finance and will provide specific figures soon.
Dr. Myra Berry asked about student access and site circulation at a CVPA vestibule project; Jaques said district staff and school leaders will coordinate with the construction team and meet next week to finalize life‑of‑site details prior to the fall term.
No board actions were taken on Prop S funding during the session; presenters said additional budget details and summer project status would be shared with board members as they are finalized.
