Madison County commissioners delayed formal selection of engineering services on Tuesday and set a schedule to score and tabulate proposals ahead of an August decision.
A commissioner said the first proposal came from Staley Engineering and that two submissions were before the commission. "We have 2, and we'll take them under advisement and make a decision in August 11," the chair said. Commissioners discussed using a scoring sheet and agreed to distribute the scoring form and, if necessary, submit sealed scores to the clerk to be tabulated so the process mirrors an in‑person vote.
Members debated timing: several said they were unavailable on the initial proposed dates and suggested the scoring be completed the week after to ensure all reviewers could participate. One commissioner asked that the attorney's office receive copies of the proposals for review.
No motion to award a contract was made at the meeting; commissioners said they will complete scoring and return with a recommendation at the next scheduled August meeting.
