Council adopts chicken ordinance, approves trust disbursement and authorizes FlixBus talks and bridge grant application

The Brunswick Town Council voted on several agenda items at its March 16 meeting, taking unanimous action on ordinances and administrative items.
The council adopted amendments to Chapter 4—Animals, Article III (Domesticated Chickens) after a public hearing. Frances M. Smith, town clerk, introduced the amendments; the council waived the rules to vote that night and approved the ordinance by a 9-0 vote. A copy of the adopted ordinance will be attached to the permanent record.
The council approved current fiscal-year disbursements of $55,242.83 from the Trusts as recommended by the Trust Fund Advisory Committee. DJ Shaunessy presented the Trust Fund Advisory Committee report; Councilor Weems moved and Councilor Ellis seconded the motion, which passed 9-0.
On transportation, Assistant Town Manager Jay Astle introduced a request from FlixBus for a bus stop on Station Avenue and Noelia Calcano of FlixBus made the company presentation. The council authorized the Town Manager to negotiate an agreement with FlixBus for that stop; the motion carried 9-0.
The council also voted to apply for a Maine Infrastructure Adaptation Fund grant for Bunganuc Bridge; Chair Nathan MacDonald moved and Councilor Weems seconded the motion, which carried 9-0. Marko Melendy spoke regarding the bridge item.
The consent agenda (including March 2 minutes, utility pole matters, and the Maine Service Centers Coalition annual resolution) was approved by a 9-0 vote. The meeting adjourned at 9:43 p.m.
