The Brunswick Town Council approved the Shellfish Committee’s recommended limits for the 2026–27 licensing year at its Feb. 17 meeting.
Town Clerk Frances M. Smith introduced the item. Councilor Kathy Wilson moved and Councilor Ramona Thieme seconded approval of the committee's recommendations: 68 commercial licenses (60 resident, 7 nonresident, 1 bushel), 9 student licenses (8 resident, 1 nonresident, two‑bushel limit), 2 student apprentice licenses (1 resident, 1 nonresident), unlimited recreational licenses with a 10% nonresident allowance, and unlimited day licenses with no residency restrictions. The motion carried with nine yeas.
The Council also approved the consent agenda — minutes of Feb. 2, 2026; a special amusement permit for Brunswick Golf Club (165 River Road); and an appointment to the Voter Registration Appeals Board — by a 9–0 vote. The meeting was then adjourned at 8:36 p.m.
