The Ashland–Bayfield PSAP Board on March 17 directed the PSAP director to document expenses tied to the Enbridge pipeline reroute and submit reimbursement requests to counties that hold reimbursement agreements with Enbridge.
Dan Grady, Ashland County administrator, raised whether equipment purchased by Ashland County would be eligible for reimbursement under the county’s agreement with Enbridge and the Wisconsin Counties Association. The board discussed expected operational impacts: Quaderer said the PSAP expects a need for additional staffing at the Ashland call center, potential overtime, and possible radio programming costs to patch in communications from Iron County, because the pipeline project spans three counties.
Abeles-Allison moved that the board “Direct the PSAP director to record any Embridge project expenses, and, in the event that specific expenses are incurred by either Ashland or Bayfield County, that the director submits for reimbursement to any county with a reimbursement agreement with Embridge.” Ron Sztyndor seconded the motion. Sheriff Tony Williams abstained; the motion carried.
What the board decided: the PSAP director will track project-related costs and pursue reimbursements where legal agreements exist. The board did not set specifics for how costs would be apportioned between counties, and members noted that actual reimbursement depends on the terms of separate county agreements with Enbridge.
