Auditorium construction at Blackford County high school reaches major structural milestone

Contractors updated trustees that construction of the new high-school auditorium has progressed substantially since the previous meeting: precast wall panels for phase one are installed, joists and curtain-wall framing up to the stage are complete, and interior slab-on-grade work is underway.
The presenter (S2) said crews have started removing temporary bracing in corridors and will set additional precast panels later in the month; ceilings are being reinstalled in hallways and mechanical work to replace pumps and boilers is ongoing. “We have the precast walls, for the 1st phase completed…Steel is all the way completed up to that,” S2 said during a photo and drone briefing.
District staff (S1) told the board they hope to hold the September board meeting on-site for a walkthrough of the auditorium and that final decisions about a small alternate paving project between the auditorium and bus barn may be timed to avoid rework related to the underground fuel tank discussion. No board action was taken; staff said they will coordinate a site visit once the construction schedule is finalized.
