Plainville Select Board appoints Kristen Conrad Garrity to interim school committee seat

The Plainville Select Board voted unanimously to appoint Kristen Conrad Garrity to an interim seat on the Plainville School Committee, the board announced during its meeting. The motion listed an effective date of July 20, 2026, and an expiration date of April 5, 2027.

Garrity introduced herself to the meeting as "Kristen Conrad Garrity," saying she has been a Plainville resident for 18 years and is a public school educator entering her 27th year. When asked whether she would run for election at the end of the interim term, Garrity said, "Never said never ... I'm now planning to run again in April." A Select Board member moved the appointment and the motion was seconded. The chair called for the vote; members responded "Aye," and the chair announced the vote appeared unanimous.

Following the vote, a meeting official administered the oath of office to Garrity and board members congratulated her. The Select Board indicated the appointee will serve until the next town election in April, at which point the voters will decide the seat for the remainder of the term or the next full term, per local process.
