The Village of Lindenhurst Board voted unanimously on Dec. 13 to adopt the 2021 property tax levy, Ordinance 21-12-2221, setting the levy at $1,308,230.
The Finance Committee had recommended an earlier proposed levy of $1,313,275; after Lake County issued a revised Equalized Assessed Valuation (EAV) for Lindenhurst, the recommended levy was reduced to $1,308,230. The levy represents a 4.5% increase over 2020, a change the committee attributed to higher EAV and inflationary increases in goods, services and labor while noting economic uncertainty tied to the pandemic.
Trustee Pat Dunham moved to adopt the ordinance; the motion passed on a 6–0 roll call of trustees. The levy is now set at the municipal level; property-tax bills and collections will follow county and state procedures.
