Lindenhurst board approves $1.1 million share of MFT resurfacing bids, adopts vendor list and routine financial actions

The Village of Lindenhurst Board on March 14 approved a package of routine financial and procurement actions and accepted the low bids for a joint Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) resurfacing solicitation that will resurface 2.21 miles of Lindenhurst streets.
Trustee Pat Dunham read the Treasurer’s Report for February 2022 and reported an ending balance of $12,633,685.78, which the board approved on a roll-call vote. The board also approved payment of the first set of March invoices totaling $923,739.55 following a motion by Trustee Dunham and second by Trustee Ron Grace.
In new business the board approved an updated 2022 meeting schedule to add regular dates for the Veterans’ Memorial Commission and adopted a master vendor list for FY 2022–2023 to streamline future procurement and allow the Village Administrator to update service agreements as needed.
The most substantial item was the board’s acceptance of three bids for the 2022 MFT resurfacing program, a joint solicitation conducted with the Village of Lake Villa. Staff reported the lowest overall bid for the combined project totaled $1,932,775.65, of which $1,112,069.30 is Lindenhurst’s share. The primary list of Lindenhurst streets planned for resurfacing includes Auburn Meadows/Auburn Lane (Grass Lake Road to Prairie Ridge Circle), Horizon Court, Greenwood Drive, Americana Heights (west of N. Beck), Federal Parkway (Grass Lake Road to N. Beck Road), Federal Circle, Jefferson Drive, Bridgeport Terrace/Waterford Commons, Bridgeport Terrace (Harbor Ridge Way to Monroe Drive) and Harbor Ridge Way (Grass Lake Road to Bridgeport Terrace). According to staff, the primary program covers 2.21 miles and completes resurfacing in Americana Heights, North Beck and Federal Parkway areas.
Staff also presented a list of alternate roads totaling 0.53 miles that could be added at an additional cost of $259,724.65 to be paid from Community Capital. Funding for the main resurfacing program was described as a combination of Motor Fuel Tax revenues and reserve Refuse and Recycling funds. The board unanimously approved accepting the bids on a roll-call vote.
There were no public comments on agenda items, and the board did not go into executive session. The meeting adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
The board announced a special public hearing on the proposed Grand Avenue TIF Redevelopment Project Area scheduled for March 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Village Hall to receive public comment on the TIF proposal.
