The Lindenhurst Village Board on March 28 approved Ordinance 22-3-2227, rezoning the property at 1724 E. Grand Avenue to CB-Community Business to allow alterations to the existing residential-style structure and the addition of a backyard storage garage. The Plan Commission had unanimously recommended the rezoning following a public hearing on March 16, 2022.
The board adopted the ordinance by voice and roll call motions after a brief presentation that noted the rezoning was intended to bring the property into conformance with the zoning code before owners alter the building footprint. Trustee Patty Chybowski moved to approve the ordinance; Trustee Dawn Suchy seconded. The roll call vote was Aye – 6, Nay – 0, and the motion carried.
The ordinance record states the rezoning does not impact the safety, welfare, or health of the community or adjacent properties and that consideration was given to adjacency to the Grand Avenue corridor and conformance with the comprehensive plan. The board did not request further conditions or amendments during the discussion.
Next steps: the ordinance was approved at the meeting and any building alterations will proceed only after applicants secure the necessary permits and comply with the zoning code.
