Board members discussed how the TOSA role will function: Flack would work with special education students in a push-in/pull-out model, sometimes in the special-ed room and sometimes in regular classrooms. The board heard that Tammy Dark and other staff participated in the interview process and that Dark would serve as Flack's mentor if hired. The district noted the TOSA hire does not require a special-education license immediately for the assignment; the arrangement includes an initial probationary/conditional period and review.
A board member moved that the district support the hire pending Flack's acceptance of the offer; the board approved the motion by raised hands, recording a 5-0 vote. If Flack accepts, staff said they will onboard her in time for the start of school.
