Pat Hunter, a 5th District resident, told the commission she has seen a newspaper notice seeking a full-time Veterans Service Office employee and expressed concern the position description says "veteran status is not required." Hunter cited a provision in local guidance (transcribed in the hearing as "PCA 58 3 1 1 c") and said the veterans service officer "shall be an honorably discharged veteran of United States Armed Services." She urged the county to hire a veteran for the post if it seeks to staff the veterans office.
County representatives responded that the issue had already been addressed and called the notice a misprint; staff said the vacancy process and required qualifications would be handled in accordance with applicable rules. The workshop provided public comment time but did not produce a formal hiring decision.
