Woolwich committee introduces ordinance to require lead-based paint inspections

The Woolwich Township Committee on June 2 introduced Ordinance 2025-11, a measure to create a new chapter of the township code requiring lead-based paint inspections for properties covered by the ordinance. Mayor Matthias read the ordinance by title and the committee voted 5–0 to introduce it for further consideration.

The ordinance was moved by Deputy Mayor Nocentino and seconded by Committeewoman Williams. Members recorded their votes on roll call: Frederick, Minhas, Williams, Nocentino and Matthias all voted yes.

During the brief discussion the committee confirmed that no in-house staff member currently holds the license required to conduct lead-based paint inspections, a point noted by Matthias when members asked about implementation. The introduction means the ordinance will proceed to the next step in Woolwich’s legislative process for public review and further committee consideration.

If adopted after subsequent readings and any required public hearings, the ordinance would add a local regulatory step for lead-based paint inspection requirements. The committee did not set a final adoption date at the June 2 meeting.

The vote to introduce came during the regular meeting held at 6:30 p.m.; the meeting record notes the ordinance was read by title and introduced without additional amendments.
