The Delaware County Board of Commissioners voted July 20 to unbundle dental and vision coverage from the county’s medical plan and to change retiree premium contributions to a 50/50 split beginning Jan. 1, 2027.
Staff said the move would give employees who do not currently take county benefits the option to elect dental or vision individually, and would allow employees over age 65 who have Medicare to take dental or vision in addition to Medicare. County staff estimated roughly 110 employees might return to county coverage for dental and vision, and presented a high‑level estimate that would cost the county roughly $4,400 per year if those employees elected coverage.
Commissioners also revisited retiree premiums. After discussion, the board voted to align retiree contributions to a 50/50 split with active employees starting Jan. 1, 2027. Commissioners agreed to send notice to retirees consistent with earlier communications.
Both motions passed on roll call.
