The Village of Orland Park board on July 7 recommended a contract award for construction engineering services for a roundabout at 153rd Street and Ravinia Avenue and confirmed grant and local funding commitments for the project.
Trustee motion recommended a contract with eXp US Services Inc. for a not-to-exceed $355,149 engineering scope presented by staff. Engineering staff told trustees the project has approximately $2,014,694 secured for construction and $257,994 secured for construction engineering; with matching shares and formulae applied, staff cited a village true share example and provided a line-item estimate for the engineering work under consideration.
Trustees discussed public outreach and the long-standing temporary nature of the intersection; staff noted traffic signals and temporary hardware have been in place about 20 years and emphasized the need to notify residents as work ramps up. The board voted to approve the motion to recommend the engineering contract as presented.
Construction letting is expected to proceed after necessary procurement steps; staff said the project is expected to start construction in early next year, subject to contractor schedules and utility coordination.
