Kearney city administrator presents proposed FY2027 budget; alderman praises Public Works

During aldermanic discussion Alderperson David Lehman said he had "received the most favorable comments ever for Public Works and the Transportation Department" about their preparation and clearing work in the recent weather event and said he was pleased to see a kennel included in the proposed FY2027 budget.
Administrator Ernzen also announced a Water and Sewer Open House scheduled for Feb. 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. at City Hall. Mayor Randy Pogue used his communications time to thank staff who worked on the holiday and announced that the dog Mr. Woody had been adopted by a local family, the minutes note.
The board set its next meeting for Feb. 17, 2026. The minutes do not record further budget deliberations, public hearing dates, or line-item totals for the FY2027 proposal; follow-up budget review or formal adoption will depend on future meetings.
