The Orwell Select Board took a set of routine administrative actions at its Dec. 8 meeting, approving a fuel bid, appointing an assistant zoning administrator, accepting invoices and payroll orders, and adjourning the meeting.
Procurement: The board received a fuel bid from Champlain Valley at $2.80 per gallon. Les Wood moved to accept the fuel bid from Champlain Valley at $2.80 a gallon; Joe Pouliot seconded and the motion passed 5 Yes 0 No.
Appointment: With planned vacations and coverage gaps for zoning administration, Les Wood moved to appoint Joe Pouliot as an Assistant Zoning Administrator; Mike Christian seconded. The motion passed 4 Yes 0 No with one abstention recorded for Joe Pouliot. The board will also reach out to Gary Murdock as a potential additional backup.
Finance: Les Wood moved to pay General Fund orders totaling $44,506.14 and $5,910.77, Sewer Orders of $1,715.57 and the Town Payroll; Joe Pouliot seconded and the motion passed 5 Yes 0 No. The meeting adjourned at 8:11 p.m. after a successful motion to adjourn moved by Joe Pouliot and seconded by Mike Christian (5 Yes 0 No).
At the meeting the board also noted the Sheriff's November invoice showing 43.75 officer hours, 285 cruiser miles and 2 traffic hours; a wetland permit for 618 Route 22A was confirmed and Rec & Parks announced it will not host a holiday event this year.
