Selectboard approves warrants and permits, hears town-manager updates on culvert funding and ditch estimate

Hartland’s Selectboard unanimously approved the 2025 dog-warrant and a request-to-cater permit for Aug. 16, appointed an alternate to the Two Rivers Ottauquechee Regional Commission, and heard town manager updates including a VTrans funding amendment and a two-week ditch-work estimate of about $50,000.
At its June 16 meeting the Hartland Selectboard approved several routine administrative items and heard updates from Town Manager John Broker-Campbell.
Board actions included unanimous approval of the 2025 Dog Warrant to encourage dog registration and a unanimous vote to approve a request-to-cater permit for Maple Street Catering LLC for an event on Aug. 16, 2025. The board also approved appointing John Broker-Campbell as Hartland’s alternate to the Two Rivers Ottauquechee Regional Commission for one year; the motion carried by unanimous vote.
On contracts and administration, Broker-Campbell said the town will meet with NEMRC next week to review roles before signing an assessing-services contract. The board discussed the Windsor County Sheriff contract, which increased from $65 to $75 per hour for the second year; no formal vote on the sheriff contract was recorded during the meeting. Broker-Campbell said the town obtained an amendment from the Vermont Agency of Transportation to add design funding for the Jenneville Densmore Hill culvert. He also said the town hired a roadside mowing contractor and is considering an Open Meeting Law training session.
Broker-Campbell reported a two-week estimate for ditch work on Quechee Road of "just shy of $50,000" and said the town’s auditors will be on-site the week of July 21. He also reported that the Sunnymede appeal was unsuccessful and that the town continues to seek a buyer for an F-550 truck.
The board set its next meeting for Monday, July 7 at 5:30 p.m.
