Fines and local rules: On Nov. 7 the council voted to impose a $10 fine for promiscuous dumping at the dump grounds and tasked police with periodic checks. The council set cleanup deadlines for property maintenance (May 15 deadline) and authorized notices and hired work if property owners failed to comply.
Equipment and services: Council approved purchasing signs, authorized purchase of a street sweeper, allowed limited truck parking arrangements in front of the Elkhorn Motel (signed entrances/exits), and authorized occasional rentals (a one-week radar rental trial was approved). The council also approved the town truck for insurance and made other standard purchases.
Public concerns and public health: Residents raised issues ranging from minors obtaining alcohol to requests for road and lighting improvements. The council recorded a Board of Health letter critical of the town's water-supply chlorination and instructed the clerk to request state recommendations; the clerk was also authorized to attend a water pollution meeting in Great Falls.
