The board approved agreements to place the Lakeland Junior Tackle Field House at the middle school site and authorized moving forward on a long-term lease rather than a series of facility-use requests. Legal counsel presented two draft agreements — an initial construction agreement and a proposed long-term lease — and said a wording correction was needed where one document incorrectly referenced the high school rather than the middle school.
Facilities Director Tim Hague described the district’s site-prep status, saying concrete and permitting had not yet been completed and that once final plans are approved the district can begin permitting through the city. Hague said he had coordinated with the junior tackle organization and district staff and did not anticipate scheduling or parking obstacles to construction. “We’ve got a pretty good plan of attack, and I don’t see any hiccups at all,” he said.
Trustees asked for the construction agreement to be edited to reference 'Lakeland Middle School' where appropriate; legal counsel committed to that change and to updating the final agreement. The board moved to approve the site location and contract and the motion carried.
