The district requested board approval of a $1.05 per hour wage increase for Missoula County Public Schools bus drivers and transportation specialists, and trustees approved the recommendation unanimously.
Amy Shaddock (S9) said the increase aligns with negotiated salary adjustments for other employee groups and helps ensure pay equity across district classifications. "Administration is requesting an approval of a dollar and 5¢ per hour wage increase for our MCPS bus drivers and transportation specialists," Shaddock said.
Trustees asked whether bus drivers are part of a union; staff clarified they are not covered by the same bargaining unit as some other employee groups and noted the district’s starting pay for drivers is roughly in the low $20s per hour. A motion to approve was made by Ann Wake and seconded by Denise Juneau; trustees present voted to approve the increase unanimously.
Staff said the recommendation will be applied to both elementary and secondary transportation classifications as presented and that detailed payroll implementation would follow through normal HR processes.
